Primogems are the most important currency in Genshin Impact if you want to wish for new characters and weapons. This guide focuses on free-to-play and low-spender methods to earn Primogems consistently in 2025.
Daily Sources of Primogems
1. Daily Commissions (Up to 60 Primogems per Day)
- Each of the 4 daily commissions: 10 Primogems
- Bonus for turning in all 4 at the Adventurers’ Guild: 20 Primogems
Total: 60 Primogems per day if you complete and claim all four commissions.
This is your most reliable long-term source and should be part of your routine as soon as commissions unlock.
2. Daily / Monthly Check-Ins & Web Events
- Use official check-in pages (like HoYoLAB) for extra Primogems over the month.
- Participate in small web events that give Primogems for simple tasks (clicking through a short mini-event, sharing, etc.).
Quest & Exploration Sources
3. Archon Quests, Story Quests & World Quests
- All main story (Archon Quests) reward Primogems on completion.
- Character Story Quests and World Quests also give a good amount of Primogems, especially when visiting new regions.

4. Chests & Exploration
- Luxurious and Precious chests almost always reward Primogems.
- Many Exquisite chests also give a small amount.
- Exploring new regions, unlocking Teleport Waypoints, and completing puzzles will naturally net you a lot of Primogems over time.
5. Statues & Regional Offerings
- Offering collectibles (Oculi, sigils, etc.) to Statues of The Seven and regional offering systems rewards Primogems and sometimes Fates.
- Each region has its own progression track for these systems.
Event & Time-Limited Sources
6. Limited-Time Events (Patch Events)
- Every patch brings combat, story, and mini-game events that reward Primogems.
- Completing all event missions can often give you hundreds or even 1,000–2,000+ Primogems in a patch.
Tip: Always prioritize time-limited events while they are active.
7. Livestream & Maintenance Codes
- For most major updates, a Special Program livestream reveals 3 time-limited codes (usually 300 Primogems total).
- These codes normally expire within about 24 hours, so redeem them as soon as possible.
- Update maintenance or bug compensation is often sent via in-game mail as Primogems.
To claim these quickly, check our Genshin Impact Codes – Active Redeem Codes page.
Weekly & Bi-Weekly Sources
8. Spiral Abyss (Resets Twice per Month)
- Floors 9–12 reset about every two weeks and reward Primogems for each star earned.
- Even if you can’t 36-star the Abyss, pushing a bit further each reset can give you a steady stream of Primogems.

9. Battle Pass (Free Track)
- The free side of the Battle Pass gives some Primogems and, importantly, Fates that convert into wishes.
- Don’t spend Primogems to buy Battle Pass levels; just complete weekly objectives naturally.
One-Time Sources
10. Achievements
- Many achievements reward 5–20 Primogems each.
- Achievements come from combat goals, exploration secrets, special interactions, and event challenges.
- Over time, achievements can easily add up to thousands of Primogems on a single account.
11. Adventure Rank Rewards
- Every time you level up your Adventure Rank, check the Adventurers’ Guild.
- Many AR levels give Primogems and/or Fates as part of your reward bundle.
12. Character Trials, New Modes & Systems
- When new character banners release, Test Run trials give a small Primogem reward.
- New permanent modes and systems often have introduction quests or one-time missions with Primogem rewards.
Rough Monthly F2P Primogem Estimate
Exact numbers depend on how much you play, but a reasonably active player can often reach:
- Daily Commissions: Around 1,800 Primogems (60 × ~30 days)
- Spiral Abyss: A few hundred to ~1,200 per month, depending on clears
- Events & Web Events: Often 1,000–2,000+ per patch
- Exploration / quests / achievements: Variable, but very significant while your account is still progressing
Overall, getting 3,000–5,000+ Primogems per patch is realistic if you’re consistent.

Where NOT to Spend Primogems
- Resin refreshes: Avoid using Primogems on Resin regularly; it’s rarely worth it for F2P.
- Standard banner: Try not to spend Primogems here. Use Acquaint Fates instead.
- Buying Battle Pass levels: Primogems are better spent directly on limited banners.
Where to Spend Primogems Wisely
- Prioritise limited character banners that fill gaps in your roster.
- Focus on characters you enjoy playing and that work well with what you already have.
- Only consider weapon banners if you’re a heavy spender or already have a strong character roster.
Simple F2P Strategy
- Do Daily Commissions every day.
- Play all limited-time events during each patch.
- Push Spiral Abyss as far as your account allows every reset.
- Slowly clear new regions, quests, and achievements for one-time Primogems.
- Save Primogems for limited characters you really want.
