Resin is the main energy system in Genshin Impact. It controls how often you can claim rewards from bosses, domains, Ley Lines, and some events. If you manage it well, your account grows fast. If you waste it, progress feels slow.
Resin Basics (2025)
Here’s how Original Resin currently works:
- Cap: 200 Original Resin
- Regen: 1 Resin every 8 minutes
- Per day: Up to 180 Resin regenerated if you don’t stay capped
- 0 → 200: About 26 hours 40 minutes for a full refill
In simple terms: you get a fixed amount of Resin over time, and the 200 cap just gives you more room so you don’t have to log in multiple times a day.
Typical Resin Costs
- 20 Resin – Ley Line Outcrops (EXP books, Mora)
- 20 Resin – Normal Domains (talent books, weapon mats, artifacts)
- 40 Resin – Elite bosses (character ascension materials)
- Weekly bosses (Trounce Domains): First 3 per week cost 30 Resin, any additional weekly bosses cost 60 Resin
- 10 Resin – Forge Mystic Enhancement Ore at the blacksmith
Condensed, Fragile & Transient Resin
- Condensed Resin – Costs 40 Resin to craft, max 5 in your inventory. Used in Domains/Ley Lines to get double rewards in one run.
- Fragile Resin – Consumable from AR rewards, events, Battle Pass. Restores 60 Resin when used.
- Transient Resin – Bought weekly in the Teapot shop. Also restores 60 Resin but expires if unused.
Early Game (AR 1–35): What to Farm
Goal: Build one main team of 4 characters and push Adventure Rank.
Best Resin Uses
- Elite / World Bosses (40 Resin)
Prioritise bosses that drop ascension materials for the characters you actually use. - Ley Lines (20 Resin)
Blue Ley Lines for character EXP books, Yellow for Mora. - Talent / Weapon Domains
Use Resin here when you hit a talent cap or weapon ascension requirement on your main DPS or healer.
Avoid: heavy artifact farming at low AR. Those pieces will be replaced quickly later.
Mid Game (AR 35–44): Transition Phase
Goal: Stabilise your main team and start preparing a second team for Spiral Abyss.
Resin Priority (Suggested Order)
- Weekly bosses
Do your first 3 discounted weekly bosses every week. They’re the only truly limited boss resource. - Elite bosses
Finish ascensions for your main DPS and core supports. - Talent Domains
Level important talents (normal/skill/burst) for the characters you use most. - Artifact Domains
Start dipping into artifact farming for your main DPS once ascension and talents are in a good place.
Late Game (AR 45+): Artifact & Optimization
At AR 45 and above, Domains can drop more 5★ artifacts, so every point of Resin here becomes more valuable for endgame farming.
Example Daily Resin Split (180 Resin)
- 40–80 Resin – Elite bosses for current characters you’re building
- 40–80 Resin – Talent or weapon material domains (on the correct days)
- 40–80 Resin – Artifact domains for your main teams
- Leftover Resin – EXP/Mora Ley Lines if you’re broke
Use Condensed Resin for domains and Ley Lines to save time while keeping the same Resin efficiency.
Daily Checklist (Any AR)
0-Resin To-Do
- Complete 4 × Daily Commissions for Primogems and EXP.
- Collect rewards from your expeditions.
- Pick up Teapot realm currency and check the Realm Depot (especially for Transient Resin and other good items).
Resin Usage Example
For a typical day with 180 Resin generated:
- 40 Resin – Elite boss for an ascension material you need
- 40–80 Resin – Talent or weapon domain for a key character
- 60–100 Resin – Artifacts or Ley Lines, depending on what you need most
If you’re busy, at least log in, turn some Resin into Condensed Resin, and use it later when you have more time.
Weekly Checklist
- Clear all available Weekly Bosses (at least the first three discounted ones).
- Buy Transient Resin from the Teapot’s Realm Depot if you’ll actually use it.
- Push Spiral Abyss as far as your account allows for extra Primogems.
- Spend any Fragile Resin you’re comfortable using on good domains (talent or artifact farming).
When to Use Fragile Resin & Primogem Refreshes
Fragile / Transient Resin
Best times to use these:
- When you’re farming high-value domains (late-game artifacts or key talents).
- When a limited-time event domain has great rewards.
- When you have time to play and won’t let Resin sit capped.
Primogem Resin Refreshes
- Generally not recommended for F2P players.
- Primogems are usually better saved for limited character banners.
- If you ever refresh, keep it to 1–2 refreshes max on special days.
Common Resin Mistakes
- Letting Resin sit at 200/200 for long periods (you lose potential regen).
- Spamming artifact domains at low AR, then replacing everything later at AR 45+.
- Ignoring weekly bosses until the last minute and running out of Resin.
- Using Fragile Resin on low-value content instead of saving it for endgame farming.
